I would like to see a discussion with those who are researching David
Lister
and his wife Elizabeth Ritchey (also spelled Ritchie) Lister.
I'm especially interested in hearing who of the descendants have been
proven, how they were proven, and what dates and places are needed to be
proven.
I descend from Dr. Thomas Jefferson Lister buried At Shaw's Creek
Campground
Cemetery in Horseshoe, NC. He married Sarah Johnson of present day
Henderson
County.
He has to be the son of Dr. Adam Ritchie Lister and his wife Esther Mahafey
Lister. But no proof. Dr. Adam Ritchie Lister disappears after the 1840
census but his wife is buried at Davidson River with her daughter's family.
The
Mahafey's are also a Greenville County family.
They had about 10 children, but only a couple have definitely been proven.
Dr. Adam Ritchie Lister has to be the son of David Lister, but again I have
no proof.

This is what I have, in a short version, regarding Esther MAHAFFEY (Mar 30,
1781-Jun 17, 1862), whose parents were her father John MAHAFFEY, Sr. (I have
an electronic copy of his handwritten will) and her mother Phebe LANGLEY
(MAHAFFEY, of course). I have this MAHAFFEY line (my ancestors, even though my
last names is spelled MAHAFFEE) all the way back to Martin MAHAFFEY, who came
from the port of Donegal, Ireland to the port of Charleston, SC in January
1768 onboard The Chichester. If you need anything on the MAHAFFEY line, let
me know.
