Have you checked the tax records online for the Greenville and Spartanburg
areas of upstate SC? These date pre 1800s. I have found many of my ancestors
came from VA through NC to upstate SC (Old 96 District) in these areas then
migrated to Edgefield and from there went to Laurens and Greenwood Counties.
I know there were Yonces in Laurens County. Have you tried a statewide search
using just the last name and the date......I have found many ancestors in
counties where I never would have looked. Also, do not rule out the Colleton
County Area of SC(the low country) or Chatham,Effingham, Bryan Counties, of
GA (these are just across the border of SC) for your ancestors as there are
some older (in their 70s and 80s) Courseys there now.
Good Luck in your search! Beth Smith
