Hi Billie,
As far as I have been able to ascertain through research in land records,
this Collins family never lived in Edgefield. Their land was located near
Coronaca and Loda so they would have been born in Abbeville
District/County-later Greenwood County.
John Wallace Collins was the father of William Tell Collins. John Wallace
Collins was married twice-first to Lucy Chaney and second to Ida Sheppard.
Lucy Chaney was the daughter of Robert Elmore Chaney and Agnes Cheatham.
She was born 19 May 1865 Abbeville County and died 26 Feb 1888 Abbeville
County. She is buried at Siloam Baptist Church near Ninety Six. Lucy was
William Tell Collins' mother.
John Wallace Collins and his second wife Ida Sheppard are buried at
Bethlehem Cemetery near Coronaca. John and Ida had the following children:
Irene, Eva and Wallace.
I've been to the cemeteries in question and interviewed William Tell
Collins' daughter, Sidney Wheeler.
As far A. C. Collins' first name-some parts of the family say Andrew and
some parts say Anderson. I have yet to discover a document that says
anything other than A. C.
I believe the Shiloh Baptist Church reference is incorrect. William Tell
Collins and his wife Alma Watts were members of Siloam Baptist Church. I
will double check the burial place. I know their daughter, Sidney Wheeler,
is still a member at Siloam.
The land transactions that I have indicate that John Wallace Collins was a
son of A. C. Collins and Julia Busby. Likewise, Robert Lee Collins (my great
grandfather) was a son of A. C. Collins and Julia Busby.
A. C. Collins' second wife, Maggie Taylor, was from Laurens County, SC. She
was born near Waterloo-not Edgefield County. Again this is based on land
deeds, tombstone inscriptions and census records.
Thanks for posting the death cert.

Suzanne
