I was unable to find a death certificate for Edwin Joseph Dean in SC Death
cert. records. He may have died in another state, or they may not have filed a
death cert. for him??

PROBLEM:

HC, in an old file on the Deans, you have a daughter Addie Dean b. 1886 m. 1906
Henry Clifton Dorn as a child of Edwin Joseph Dean & Emma Jane Polatty. None
of the census records I have for the family names her as a child. I would
think she would show up in this 1900 census if she indeed was a daughter of Ed
& Emmie. Do you have other source data that lists her as a child? Possibly
she was living with someone else at the time of the census.

You have also attached Emma Moile Dean b. August 09, 1890 m. James Oliver Kemp
to this family. She does not show up in 1900 either.

The 1900 census states that Emma Jane Polatty Dean was the mother of 4
children/3 living, but here is what it looks like if I use all the children
listed in information that others have sent. The * marks the ones named in

Does anyone have info. on Allie Dean Dorn or Emma M. Dean Kemp to prove where
they belong? It may be that Emma M. Dean Kemp is a granddaughter, if Edwin was
married before. Dates run pretty close for that to work, however, It
certainly seems that she connects, since she is buried in the same plot in Good
Hope, Mayson Cem, Saluda Co., SC.
