I am researching the von der Leck surname

I have the following information:

Jurgen von der Leck and Christina (unknown Surname) had a child named
Lorenz von der Leck born March 15 1851 in Garding Schleswig-Holstein Germany.
He moved to Chicago Il, USA
My wife is a direct descendent.

I am also trying to connect another line with
Lorenzo Vanderleck born Feb 25 1811 in Schleswig-Holstein Germany.
He moved to Los Angeles, CA, USA

I am looking for two things.
1. A way to further my research. I have obtained this information from USA
sources. I think I need some German sources now. The LDS records have not been
of any help.

2. A way connect these two lines together. The names are too close together to
not be related, over and above that, they are from the same area.
