As a result of the plebicite of 1920 the northern-most part of Schleswig-
Holstein, including the town of Hadersleben, was transferred to Denmark. It is
now known by its Danish name as Haderslev.
Of course, prior to 1864 the Duchy of Schleswig-Holstein had been administered
by Denmark. Between 1866 and 1920 it was a province of Prussia.
