Hello from a Petersen searcher-

Linda Petersen Ploch asked aabout her grandfather Hans Petersen b 1886, and
his parents Thomas and Bertha.

In my search for Dye Petersen (b 1835), his wife Margarethe Petersen (b
1839), his parents Sonke (b 1803) and Margarethe Nahnsen (b about 1808),
etc., I have not seen a Hans or Bertha or Rebecca. There have been some
Tomas, though I am not sure the age is right. But Petersen seems to be a
very common name.

I am looking (because of family hints) in the area of Husum, the church
parish of Bordelum, the villages of Sterdebull and Ebull. There are many
Petersens there, but I suspect that is also true of much of
Schleswig-Holstein and Denmark.

Have you tried your Family History Center, to see whether your ancestors
have been searched?

Where in Nebraska did they settle? My grandfather Peter Petersen, at age
11, in 1890, came with his parents to Blair in Washington Co, NE. In 1896
they moved to Stanton County. A few other farming families from their area
of Schleswig also did that. On US censuses, their origin is listed as
Prussia, then as Germany.

In my slight research so far, I have not found other German Petersens.
More frequently they are Danish or Swedish.

Please give me more information about your family. Perhaps we can search
together. Margaret Flory
