I feel the need to echo what Hans-Peter Voss has said. When I went to the
church at Probsteierhagen to look at the records, the clerk brought me the
original church register! It was hundreds of years old and the pages were
extremely brittle. Little pieces of the edges crumbled as I just gently turned
them.

Perhaps if someone used a digital camera they could make a copy, but I certainly
would like to know what possible damage could be done by any flash units before
I did so.

We certainly hope that all of these precious registers have been filmed for
posterity.
