Sorry James, I am north of you near Portland. We moved out of
the bay area when taxes and fees went out of sight. We don’t have
that advantage here. At one time we did, but no more. Libraries
are cutting back on what they provide, and even the LDS cut their
service with Ancestry because of costs.
What I don't understand is why can I get into the English sight
of the Sanderson's, but not the German sight of the Köpke family
in Germany. You are supposed to be able to invite others, so why
doesn't it work right? At this point, my cousin is doing all the
leg work in and around Hamburg and Altona, but I try to share the
cost with him. So far the Fort Vancouver Library system still
provides the Census records, but I don't know how long that will
continue. As money gets tighter in the US, services of this sort
will be cut, and maybe in California too. I am surprised it
hasn't happened already.
