Irene and Alan,
In reponse to you recent post and notes.
My wife Gladys "Gay" Wellendorf has roots in Schleswig-Holstein and Scott County Iowa. All eight of her Ggrandparents emigrated from Schleswig-Holstein to Scott County Iowa in the mid to late 1800s. Several of her lines were from the Probstei area. Many of her ancestors were baptized or married in the Schoenberg Parish Church which included Wisch. My wife had ancestors in Wisch (Wellendorfs and other) back into 1600 also. In her charts she has an Anje Lage (b 1693, Schoenberg) daughter of a Henrich Lage (b 1670, Schoenberg).
Gay and I were able to tour Schleswig-Holstein by auto in June 2010. We spent the majority of our time in Schoenberg and surrounding area. She wrote an article detailing the trip for a distant cousins newletter. If you would like a copy of the article or wish to discuss further family detail let us know. Please correspond with us directly via our email .
Tom and Gay
PS Gay was born and attended public school in Davenport, IA (Scott County), but attended college, married, and has lived in Texas all of her adult life.
