I'm looking for data on the Schmidts who apparently emigrated from Germany and Bavaria to NY in the mid-1800's. Mena Schmidt was a widow by the time of the 1880 census, a piano teacher living with her children August, Charles, Edward, William, and Lena in Brooklyn, NY. Charles was born about 1860 and married Wilhelmina in about 1882, their daughter Frances L. born in 1886 was my husband's g-grandmother. She married James Moreland in 1905. Her siblings were Augustus, Wilhemina (Minnie), Charles J., Edna and Florence. They had moved to Newark, NJ by the 1900 census and are still there for the 1910 census.

Hope to connect with someone researching the same line, and any suggestions as to where else to search for data would be much appreciated-
