I am not related to any of these people, but I was good friends with a
lady whose maiden name was HEWITT. She was born in a house in Ash. She
told me the story that the house she was born in was on the NC/SC line and
they didn't know which state to record her birth in because the bedroom she
was born in was on the SC side of the line. I don't know if it was a true
story but I had no reason to not believe her. The only record of her birth
was in the family Bible.

My point being, there are many "Hewitts" in Brunswick County. Hopefully one
of them will see this and respond. I do not live in BC, but near it.
