P.S.: There is a good chance that David's parents filed a death benefit claim
and/or a request for his personal effects with the Confed authorities when he
died. You need to file a NATF
FORM 80 with the NARA and ask for an "unfiled papers and slips" search in his
name and list his units etc. I recently "cracked" a very difficult case when I
retrieved a soldiers' parents requests. You just have to be aptient with the
deadheads at the archives or do a look-up yourself or a friend is you can get to
D.C. or possibly the branch archive outside D.C..
