Hi, Tony,
I think there could be a connection between our families. Could your Edward King
be a descendant of my Edward King from the same area in South Carolina? I am
looking for my great-grandparents, Eddie King (maybe George Edward King, born
1869) and his first wife Margaret (or Marguerite) (maiden name unknown) King
(maybe Margarett Elizabeth Turnage King, born 1872). They were from somewhere
along the NC/SC line, and I think maybe the Chesterfield County, Marlboro County,
Darlington County, SC area. Eddie King may have married again after the death of
his first wife to second wife Alma Cauthin Kelly, and Eddie and Alma had about a
dozen children. Eddie and Margaret had three children: Lonnie O. King
(1890-1931), my paternal grandmother Nettie King Neely Riley (1896-1958), and
another daughter (name unknown) (probably Pauline King, born 1894) who married a
Mr. Bailey. Lonnie was the father of Rembert Lonzo King and Pauline King (married
name unknown) by his first wife, Lizzie Huggins, of the Marion County, Dillon
County, SC area, and Helen Chappell King Greene by his second wife, Mary Margaret
Chappell King. Lonnie died in Saint Paul's, Robeson County, NC, and is buried in
Raeford, Hoke County, NC. His sister Nettie (my paternal grandmother) married
Joseph Bowden Neely, Sr. from Horry County, SC, and they moved to Savannah,
Chatham County, Georgia where all their children and grandchildren were born. Any
and all help would be greatly appreciated. I hope you will check out further
information below at our genealogy web site.
Thanks,
Sharlotte Neely Donnelly
