FORK - William James "W.J." Ellis, 84, widower of Georgia Graham Ellis, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Marion County Medical Center, after an illness.

He was born March 28, 1917, in Marion County, a son of the late J.C. and Nanny Mise Ellis.

He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Fork Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny Ellis and Danny Ellis, both of Fork; a daughter, Barbara Ann Newell of Marion; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Aleese Richardson of Brittons Neck, Ethel Lane of Marion and Mabel Bullard of Winston-Salem, N.C.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Smith-Collins Funeral Home in Marion.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fork Baptist Church. The Rev. Gary Harrelson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
