David E. Whittington

LEXINGTON, N.C. — David Earl Whittington, 40, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at High Point Regional Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 22, 1961, in Loris, a son of Waldo and Hazel Fowler Whittington.

He was a retired Marine Corps sergeant and a former employee of BTI Telecommunication Services.

Survivors, in addition to his parents of Green Sea, include his wife, Michele McGrath Whittington; a son, Damien Monaghan of the home; and a sister, Laura Vera of High Point, N.C.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, and at other times at the home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady Of The Rosary Catholic Church. The Rev. Al Gondek and the Rev. Joseph Kelleher will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday in National Cemetery, Salisbury, N.C.

Memorials may be made to Cancer Patient Support Program, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Medical Center Blvd., Winston-Salem, NC 21157-1082.
