I like the idea of a "topic of discussion" and the question, "Who was your earliest in Horry Co.?" Mine was Noah Lee, 1766, resided in Alls Saints Parrish. I would really ask about his father, John, and if he arrived in Charleston in 1754 and then inquire about their life, i.e., living conditions, how they earned a living, what type of education did they receive. Life must have been very hard and somewhat primitive since everything had to come up river from Charleston; and the entire area must have had a lot of undergrowth and swamps.

My earliest ancester is John Singleton, one of the many John Singletons
listed in various places. My John Singleton married Nancy Harper. John is
credited with building the first Hebron Methodist Church at Bucksville.
Nancy is buried at Union Methodist Church on Hwy 701S. Their son, Samuel
Harper Singleton, is my great-great grandfather. Samuel married Charlotte
Causey.
I have great information on Samuel and Charlotte's children, thanks to
Charlotte's Bible, but I keep hitting walls with John.
