IRMO | Ruth Edwards Collins, age 84, the widow of John J. Collins, passed
away Monday Sept. 19, 2005, at Lexington Medical Center.

Mrs. Collins was born May 20, 1921, a daughter of the late James Tillman
Edwards and Julie Gerald Edwards. She was a farmer and also worked at Heritage
Sportswear of Marion. Mrs. Collins was a native of Horry County until the
early 1980's, and then moved to Irmo. She was born and raised in the Galivants
Ferry Section of Horry County and was a member of First Baptist Church of Irmo.

Surviving Mrs. Collins are two daughters, Shelby Cole (Gene) of Irmo and
Julia Pearl Johnson (Charles) of Aynor; one brother, Levern Edwards of
Charleston; two sisters, Evelyn Huggins of St. George and Marie Hardwick of Florence;
eight grandchildren, Kathy Cook, Shelia Bessant, Woody Johnson, Cynthia
Dennis, Gina Hilts, Angie Cole, Teressa Potter and Rupert Edward Collins; and ten
great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening Sept. 21, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m. at
Palmetto Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, in the Chapel at
Palmetto Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Dr. Bill Messer and the Rev.
Paul Pridgen. Burial will immediately follow at Rehobeth United Methodist
Church Cemetery
