Ella Gruenig Schwartz Messner was my grandmother. Her birth name was Ella Gruenig. Shortly after her birth, her mother (Lina Gruenig) died. Her father's (Fredrich Gruenig) new wife wasn't interested in a baby so Ella was left with Edith Schwartz to be raised. Ella's older natural sister was Margaret. Ella did attend nursing school, and did later move to Akron, Ohio, where she married Richard Clyde Messner. My father, Richard Lowell Messner is one of the children of that marriage. He has two brothers, Duane Messner, Robert Messner, and one sister, Sally Messner Reffner. Margaret Gruenig never married, nor ever had children. She also moved to Akron, OH, where she happily lived near her sister Ella. We buried Margaret in January, 2001 one week short of her 92nd birthday. I don't quite remember when we buried Ella (my Grandmother) but it was about 1978. I would love to hear more about how you knew my Grandmother!
