Rose,

The census below of John and Manda Richards found in 1860 Marion County, AL,
shows them on the same page 578 with James and Malinda (South) Mitchell.
Malinda was Amanda's sister. They were daughters of Daniel South of Laurens
County. James and Malinda Mitchell were my 3rd g'grandparents.

1860 Marion County, AL
Western Dist, p578&579
John G. Richards, age 35, b. SC
Manda Richards, age 43, b. SC
Margaret Richards, age 13, b. SC
John Richards, age 12, b. SC
Benj Richards, age 8, b. SC
James Richards, age 7, b. SC
William Richards, no age given, b. AL

I found in Christine South Gee's book, "Genealogical Notes on the South
Family", that Amanda and family went to Illinois, but evidently they stopped
off in Marion County, AL for awhile before going to Illinois.
