I think the dock Padgett you are looking for is a relative of mine. on worldconnect.rootsweb.com, there is a Cicero Pixley Padgett, nickname doc, married to Eliza (Elizabeth).
She had 13 children.
Cicero's line comes from North and South carolina and originally from England. He was born Aug 29,1842 in Tennessee, and died April 29, 1920 in Warren, Tyler Co., Texas.
