Message Board Post:

I posted this to the Risinger board and thought I'd post it here as well.

Davis Lawson "Lawson" Risinger (bc. June 1858/bef. 1930), married Mary Z. "Sis" OSWALT. They married around 1880. Their children were Clarence E. Risinger (b. July 1881/?), Ruthy B. (They were my husband's gr-grandparents.)

___________________________________________________________

1880 Lexington Co., SC, Leesville, District 130
Mary Seay, 82, widow, b.SC, parents b.SC
Mary Oswalt, dau, 47, widow, keeping house, b. SC, parents b. SC
William Oswalt, gr-son, 22, single, working on farm, b. SC, parents b. SC
Lawson Risinger, (relation left blank), 21, married, farmer, b. SC, parents b. SC
Mary Risinger, wife, 17, married, works on farm, b. SC, parents b. SC
James Oswalt, (relation left blank), 10, works on farm, b. SC, parents b. SC
(NOTE: This census states that Lawson and Mary just got married. I'm guessing that Mary Seay was Mary Risinger's grandmother, Mary Oswalt was her mother and William and James were her brothers.)

In order to find out who Mary Oswalt was, I looked up this family in the 1870 census:
1870 Lexington Co., SC, Gilbert Hollow, Leesville PO
Harman See, 65, farmer, b. Lexington, SC
Mary See, wife, 71, keeping house, b. Lexington, SC
M.A.M. Oswalt, (female), 36, b. Lexington, SC
George W. Oswalt, 10, b. GA
Mary S. Oswalt, 8, b. Lexington, SC
James A. Oswalt, 4, b. Lexington, SC
A.H. See, (female), 15, b. Lexington, SC

I tried finding them in the 1860 census, going on the 1870 census stating that George was born in GA. This is what I found:
1860 Richmond Co., GA, District 123
James A. Oswalt, 30, farmer, b. GA
Mary A., 24, female, b. SC
William G., 3, b. GA
Mary, 11 months, b. GA

I can't be sure this is them, but it looks pretty close.

Let me know if this helps!
-Dana
