I am new to this E-mail, but do descend from John SMITH IV, b. Chowan Co NC abt 1710 & died Marion Co SC, 1802. This John settled on the Buck Swamp prior to Rev. War. Married 3 times: #1 Abigail COMMANDER abt 1737, #2 Jane FORD abt 1742, #3 Mary ?. His will dated 10 Jun 1797, proven 20 Jan 1802. Known children: Samuel, John (d. bef 10 Nov 1824), James, Anne (m. Berry), Elizabeth (m. Watson), Mary (m. Buckholts), Sarah (m. Tart), Martha (m. John Finklea), Mourning (m. Bryant), Cealey (m. Harralson), & possibly Hannah.

John SMITH IV descended from William SMITH b. England abt 1590, d. Isle of Wight Co VA bef Sep 1645. Son John SMITH I b. England 1614, d. Isle of Wight VA aft 1694 m. Anne JONES abt 1649. John Smith II b. ca 1640 Isle of Wight VA, m. Elizabeth BALL ca 1680. John SMITH III b. York Co VA 1683 d. Chowan Co NC 1747, m. Ann JASPER 1709.
