Many thanks, Helen, for the text of the Patsy Sherwood obituary! I note
that the issue cited is April 14, 1901.... I believe that it should be 1909
(Her death was April 12, 1909 according to family records).

Also, for the list archives, I would like to note that she was Martha
"Patsy" Bethea, daughter of William Bethea and Sarah Hairgrove
(Hargrove). She was predeceased by husband Richard Sherwood. They had
several other children, not just T.C. (my great-grandfather) as the
obituary says. James, William Andrew, and John all predeceased Patsy, as
did daughter Sarah (mother of the Davis grandson of the obituary). Still
alive was Henry Postell Sherwood who lived in Mullins and was married to
Lou Scarborough.

A recent find has revealed that Patsy apparently married again after
Grandfather Richard Sherwood died in the Confederate Hospital in Columbia
during the War (May 26, 1863). I came across some probate records, thanks
to Lucille Utley, that implies her marriage to a Neil Graham. There are
several Neil Grahams in the area - particularly Robeson County - but none
has been identified as the one she married. Mysteriously (or not, since
this is during Reconstruction), she is not in the 1870 census (nor are any
of the Sherwood children). Ten years later she is listed as Patsy Sherwood
in the 1880 census - she has apparently taken back her first married name.
Her tombstone in Sweat Swamp says simply "wife of Richard Sherwood."

I would appreciate any thoughts from Graham researchers on the list.... or
anyone with information or additions!

Thank you again, Helen, for sharing this piece of family history with me!
