Martha Gainey 25 F School teacher

R. Carter 20 F

(Who are the above young women?)>>>>>>

Jean,

I don't know who the above women are but I do know that my Marion ancestors
were STEPHEN GAINEY WHITE b. January 19, 1797 in Laughlin,SC who married
MARY E. FORE b. November 25, 1798 in Marion County. Stephen was the son of
JOSEPH WHITE and JUDITH GAINEY WHITE. Mary was the daughter of RICHARD FORE
. I suspect since Stephen has the two names Gainey and White that there is
probably a connection. Both Stephen and Mary are buried at Shiloh Methodist
Church Cemetery, Marion County, SC. I don't have any of my info with me
other than Treemaker (I'm in another location) but I think Stephen is
discussed in "The History of Marion County, SC". Maybe someone else can
elaborate. I do know that in Lucille Utley's book "Marion County, South
Carolina Abstract of Deeds, Volume One, Books A-E, 1800-1811", Deed Book D,
is written:

D29-30 12 Sep 1807. DRURY WHITE of Marion Dist. to RICHARD FORE of same
place for $400 a Negro AMY. Sig: DRURY (his mark) WHITE. Wit: JOEL FORE*,
THOMAS GODBOLD. Pr bef WM. WHITEFIELD, JP, 22 Sep 1807. Rec. 19 Oct 1807.
Ex. by HENRY LEGETT, Pro Temp Clerk.

I don't know if there is a connection with the DRURY WHITE above to SILAS
WHITE.
