Subject: [SCMARION-L] Lynches Creek, South Carolina - Marion County?
Date: Sat, 4 Jan 2003 18:31:14 -0500

Can anyone tell me the location of Lynches Creek, SC? I have seen various
references to a location and am trying to determine the home of a Sinclair
family in 1812. These Sinclairs were in Robeson County, NC by 1820 and I am
looking at Marion County, SC as a possible location prior to moving to NC.
A family bible states that "Archibald (Sinclair) was born at Lynches Creek,
SC the 2nd day of January, 1812". I have not yet found a connection with my
Sinclair family and the Daniel and Archibald Sinclair of Marion County, SC
but this is still being examined. These Marion County Sinclairs were,
however, neighbors of my Hairgrove and O'Brien families near Dillon, SC.
(Asa Hairgrove and William Wesley O'Brien, Asa's son-in-law.)

The 1816 will of Mary McPhaul of Robeson County, NC states that she
bequeaths to her daughter Mary McNeill "three cows that I have on Linches
Creek, South Carolina."
I am trying to determine if this Linches/Lynches Creek is in old Marion
County or perhaps between Chesterfield and Darlington Counties. A Lynch
Creek is located on an old map that use to be on the Robeson County website.
The creek was shown to be in the bottom western corner of Robeson running
into Marion. Any information or help on locating Lynches Creek in South
Carolina would be appreciated!
