Batton Sr., John Henry



LAKE VIEW -- Mr. John Henry Batton, 65, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at
Marion County Medical Center after an illness.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Lake View
Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lake View. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery
directed by Cook Funeral Home of Lake View.



Mr. Batton was born in Wayne County, N.C., the son of the late Thurmon Odell
and Erdine Wood Batton.



Surviving are five sons, Vernie Batton of Lake View, John H. Batton Jr. of
Myrtle Beach, John Wayne Batton of Wilmington, N.C., Roger Poesy of Conway
and Robert Lowry of Washington, D.C.; three daughters, Wanda Batton and
Stella Jean Batton, both of Summerville, and Tara Batton of Florida; two
sisters, Francis Alene Robbins of Mullins and Mrs. Alice Faye Hill of East
Spencer, N.C.; and 10 grandchildren. Mr. Batton was preceded in death by his
wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Batton.



The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
