Gary W. Sawyer

MULLINS -- Mr. Gary Winifred Sawyer, 90, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at his
residence after an extended illness.



Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Little Bethel
Baptist Church, with the Rev. Scott Collins and the Rev. Mike Watkins
officiating. Burial will follow in Little Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery
directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.



Mr. Sawyer was born Dec. 29, 1912, in Marlboro County, a son of the late Joe
Lee Sawyer and the late Maggie Della Carabo Sawyer. Mr. Sawyer had retired
as a mechanic from the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Mr.
Sawyer was a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church, where he was a former
deacon, a member of the Men's Bible Class and had served in many offices of
the church.



Mr. Sawyer was first married to the late Clara Mae Causey Sawyer and second
to the late Marjorie Dozier Sawyer.



Surviving Mr. Sawyer are: two daughters, Annie Mae Huggins of Conway and
Sally Kate Joye and her husband Rembert of Marion; six grandchildren, Jimmy
Huggins, Danny Huggins, Jackie Huggins, Ann Marie Gibson, Sandy Bevil and
Rebecca Hewitt; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and
several nieces and nephews.



Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
