Lane, Fannie Drose
MARION -- Mrs. Fannie Drose Lane, 87, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at
Methodist Manor in Florence after an illness. Funeral services will be at 3
p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Marion Baptist Church, with burial to follow in
Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today
at Richardson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lane was born in Catawba County, N.C., a daughter of the late William
Waitsol Maye and Ollie Smith Maye. She was twice married, first to the late
Jasper Samuel Drose, and second to the late John Legrand Lane. Mrs. Lane was
also predeceased by three brothers, William Eugene Maye, Joseph Arnold Maye
and Nathan Maye; and three sisters, Bessie Copeland, Eunice Verhines and
Oralee Nichols. Mrs. Lane was retired from the Marion Recreation Department.
She also was a faithful member of Marion Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Samuel Lee "Pete" Drose (Mac) of Wilmington and
William "Billy" Wesley Drose Sr. (Ann) of Marion; a daughter, Bertha Maye
Drose McCaskill (Lyde) of Sumter; sister-in-laws, Susie Maye (William) of
Batesburg-Leesville and Ruth Maye (Joseph) of Manning; nine grandchildren;
13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Florence, SC 29504 or to The Freewill Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 229,
Turbeville, SC 29162.
