CONWAY | Gerona Elizabeth ''Romie'' Lawrimore Johnston, 89, widow of Hawley
M. Johnston, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Conway Medical Center.
She was born in Brittons Neck, a daughter of the late Lawrence Sumpter and
Dora Gertrude Sawyer Lawrimore.
She was a former member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, which was her home
church as a child, and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
She was always concerned about the well-being of those around her.
Survivors include two sons, H. Don Johnston and James W. Johnston, both of
Conway; three daughters, Mary J. ''Mickey'' Hyman of Myrtle Beach and Ann J.
Cox and Peggy J. Jones, both of Conway; two brothers, Archie Lawrimore and
Troy Lawrimore, both of Brittons Neck; two sisters, Clara Bourne of Marion
and Eula Richardson of Conway; 12 grandchildren, Cathy Graves, William J.
Carmichael Jr., William Shawn Carmichael, Kenneth E. Hyman, Donna Jo H.
Hacia, Sherry C. Flowers, Staci C. Jones, Jerry Alston Johnston II, Burman
H. Jones III, Stephanie J. Fleming, H. Ray Todd and Justin W. Todd; 22
great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by a son, Jerry Alston Johnston; a daughter, Carolyn
Louise Johnston Carmichael; and two brothers, Zack Lawrimore and Tom
Lawrimore.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway
chapel.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Billy
Hackett and the Rev. Leroy Larrimore will officiate. Burial will be in
Bunker Hill Cemetery.
