Hi y'all,

Have expanded the Dillon pages on Cotton and Cotton Mills
to include new essays:

From Cotton Seed to Bales
From Bale to Cloth
Dillon's Cotton Mills and Child Labor

All pages are illustrated; tried to get as many historical photos
from the Dillon and Maple Mills as I could. Some of you may
be familiar with the great photographer, Lewis W. Hine, whose
work was instrumental in changing child labor laws in the early
1900s. ("Seeing is believing") I had no idea he had photographed
children and families in Dillon, having been most familiar with his
photographs of children at work in the coal mines.

Does anyone have old photos of the mills in Dillon showing either
interior or exterior?

On occupations in the cotton mills, I'm at a loss and would
appreciate your help in compiling a list of what jobs there
were and what they were called.

Did a "doffer" remove full spindles and replace them with empty
spindles?

Does anyone know what "runs 3 and 4 sides" means?

All additions or corrections gratefully accepted!
