Alford, Ola Huggins
DILLON -- Mrs. Ola Huggins Alford, 81, widow of Julius Thomas Alford and
formerly of Aynor, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at McLeod Regional Medical
Center after an illness.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Chapel of
Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dickey Cullem officiating. Burial
will follow in Rehoboth United Methodist Church Cemetery, directed by
Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Alford was born Aug. 3, 1921, in Horry County, a daughter of the late
Sam and Nettie Jordan Huggins. Mrs. Alford worked for Anvil Knitwear for 20
years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church,
where she was a member of the WMU.
Surviving Mrs. Alford are three daughter, Ida Mae Jackson of Dillon, Linda
Berry, formerly of North Myrtle Beach and now of Dillon, and Helen Martin
and her husband Rudolph of Aynor; five grandchildren, William Carl Berry
Jr., Julius Michael Alford Jr., Brandi Cannon, Michelle Martin and Carlon
Martin; five great-grandchildren; a step-grandchild, Tracy Hucks; and a
sister, Marie Huggins of Conway.
Mrs. Alford was predeceased by a son, Julius Michael Alford, and a daughter,
Audrey Ann Alford.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cox-Collins Funeral Home
