McLeod Sr., Gordon Keith



TIMMONSVILLE -- Gordon Keith McLeod Sr., 82, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at
his residence after an illness. He was born in Timmonsville a son of the
late Dr. William Rogers and Ellen Byrd McLeod. He was a graduate of
Timmonsville High School and attended Furman University. He was a graduate
of Clemson University Class of 1943. During World War II, he served in the
Army Corps of Engineers in the China-Burma-India Theater. He was discharged
in 1946 with the rank of captain.

Mr. McLeod was associated with B.P. Barber and Associates Inc. of Columbia
from 1946 until his retirement in 1988.



He was a lifelong member of Timmonsville United Methodist Church having
served as chairman of the official board and church school secretary. He was
a member of American Legion Post No. 47 and a Clemson IPTAY Scholarship
Donor.



Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Sara Perry McLeod; a son, Gordon Keith
(Cathy) McLeod Jr. of Columbia; two daughters, Sara McLeod (Mike) Rogers of
Mt. Pleasant and Ellen McLeod (Mark) Florio of Timmonsville; seven
grandchildren, Melissa R. Leopper, Michael Charles Rogers, Mary Amanda
Rogers, Gordon Keith McLeod III, Edward Harold McLeod, A.J. Florio and
Andrew Mark Florio; and three great-grandchildren, William Leopper, Destiny
McLeod and Faith McLeod; and a brother, William James (Sara) McLeod of
Dillon. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold McCallum McLeod and
Edward Byrd McLeod, and a sister, Ellen Byrd McLeod.



Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in Timmonsville United Methodist
Church. Interment will be in Byrd Cemetery directed by Layton-Anderson
Funeral Home.
