Eugene Johnson

MULLINS -- Mr. Eugene Franklin "Gene" Johnson, 69, husband of Carolyn Holmes
Johnson, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003.



Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Mullins First
Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery,
directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.



Mr. Johnson was born December 15, 1933, in Horry County, a son of Agnes Goff
Johnson and the late Evander Franklin Johnson. Mr. Johnson had retired from
law enforcement after 32 and a half years of service. He was an avid
fisherman and hunter and was a member of Twin States Hunting Club and
Wildlife Action. Mr. Johnson was a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge #123
and the S.C. Law Enforcement Association. He was a member of Springfield
Baptist Church and attended Mullins First Baptist Church, where he was a
member of the Whosoever Will Sunday School Class.



Surviving Mr. Johnson in addition to his wife of the home are his mother,
Agnes Goff Johnson of Loris; his children, Dianne Johnson Thompson of
Wampee, Sherry Johnson King of Conway and Barry Franklin Johnson of Mullins;
six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Lavern Johnson of
Loris, Eston Johnson of Loris and Milton Johnson of Conway; and a sister,
Fannie "Sandy" Holmes of North Myrtle Beach.



Mr. Johnson was predeceased by a son, Michael Hampton Johnson.



Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Cox-Collins Funeral
