Hello everyone. I have just joined the Marion County mailing list this week. I thought that I would introduce myself and tell you my connections with Marion County.

My name is Heather Francis and I have been working on my family genealogy since August 2000. Most of my searching so far has been limited to on-line or occasionally some local library/ archive research. I am a stay at home Mom and cannot travel around as much as I would like. Now that you know a little about me, here is how am connected to Marion County.

I am a descendant of the Lane and Campbell families. My grandmother was Amelia Rhodees Lane (went by Rhodees), daughter of Sampson Elmore Lane and Forrest Roma Campbell. My grandmother was born in Marion County in 1917. I have received a lot of information about my family through my father. My father received most of his information from our cousin, Wade Campbell. I live in Tennessee, so it is not an easy distance for me to drive out to the Marion area to do research. I do have a collection of digital photographs of all headstones in two cemeteries in Marion County, Old Ebenezer and Lane Cemetery. They were taken last July, so I would not have any if they were after that time. I do get to come for brief one or two day visits to the Marion area in July when the Lane family has their reunion. It is one thing my Father has always tried to do. Even if it meant driving all that way for just one day.

Now that you know a little about me, are there any family members on the list? I have Campbell, Lane, Tart, Bryant and Perritt also as some surnames from the area. I also have a web site for my family (www.lane.accessgenealogy.com). I look forward to hearing from anyone on the list!

Heather Francis
