MULLINS -- Mrs. Bessie Hilburn Small, 82, widow of the Rev. William McDuffie
Small, died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Marion County Medical Center after an
illness.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Chapel of Cox-Collins
Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bobby Smith and Rev. Johnny Hyatt officiating.
Burial will follow in State Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.



Mrs. Small was born Oct. 5, 1920, in Horry County, a daughter of the late
Sam and Janie Hilburn. She was a homemaker and a member of Latta Church of
God.



Surviving Mrs. Small are her children, Iva Dean Small of Mullins, Betty Mae
Small of Mullins, Bernice Bryant of Latta, Lois Clark of Mullins, Rosie Mae
Bryant of Marion, Louise Grice of Latta, Evelyn Morris of Timmonsville,
Nancy Powers of North Myrtle Beach, Alice Powers of North Myrtle Beach,
Bessie Thompson of Longs, Elsie Small of Latta, Tina Small of Lake View,
Buddy Small of Pamplico and J.D. Small of Latta; two daughters-in-law; eight
sons-in-law; 56 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; a
great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Cordilla Faulk of Tabor City, N.C., and
Jenna Lee Westmore of Minnesota; a brother, Tillman Hilburn of Conway; and a
sister-in-law, Estelene Thompson of Pee Dee.



Mrs. Small was predeceased by a son, W.L. Small.
