RICHMOND, Va. -- Lilburne Mason Smith, 72, of Malden's passed away at his
home on his 72nd birthday, Aug. 5, 2003, and is survived by his wife of 47
years, Thelma Nolan Smith, formerly of Marion. He was a retired partner in
the A.G. Smith Jr. Co. and former postmaster of Maldens, and was a tireless
supporter of the Goochland Relay for Life and served on the Board of the
Goochland County Cancer Society.

Other survivors include daughters, Nancy S. Bright and husband Scott of
Oxford, N.C., Donna S. Dalla Villa and husband Sandy, and granddaughters,
Amanda, Megan and Lauren, all of Powhatan, Va., Joan S. Titch and husband
Frank, and grandchildren, Leah and Daniel Mason of Hillsborough, N.C.;
sister, Carolyn S. Obaugh and husband Henry of Staunton, Va.; brother,
George A. Smith and wife Jayne of Maidens; brother-in-law, M.P. Nolan of
Florence; and two sisters-in-law, Christine N. Jordan of Bennettsville and
Elizabeth N. Parrish of Rockingham, N.C.



Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in Salem Baptist Church with
interment to follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The West Chapel of the
Bennett Funeral Home is assisting the family with the service. Memorial
donations may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Mission Fund, 1701
Cardwell Road, Crozier, VA 23039 or the Heartland Hospice, 3212 Skipwith
Road, Richmond, VA 23394.
