IVEY/IVY, ODOM & EASTERLING families in MARLBORO SC about 1850...
I am interested in info on the families of James E. Odom and E. Easterling,
both listed as farmers in the 1850 Marlboro Census. My GGgrandfather Enoch
Ivey is shown in this same census as 18 yrs old, laborer and residing with
the the Odom family. His brother James Ivey shown is age 20 as laborer with
the Easterling family in same census.
The rest of Enoch's family is also in same census under their father Isaiah
Ivey's name. THE INTERESTING thing is that most of them left SC for
Cherokee AL (they're in 1860 census there)
(Enoch alone went on to DeSoto MS he married there in 1859 and stayed)
they left between 1851 and 1858 EXCEPT James, who still shows in Marlboro
census' 1860 & 1870. I'd love to know who he married, why he stayed behind
and where he's buried, if he died in SC or moved on after 1870.
any info or clues on who to ask would be MUCH appreciated
