"The Marlboro Herald ", the local newspaper, has its business in one of
Bennettsville's oldest and largest homes. They use several of the rooms for
a gift shop, which is where they sell all historical books written on the
area. They had just gotten in a shipment of J.A.W. Thomas's "History of
Marllboro County" when I talked to them last week. If you do research on
Marlboro Co.,SC, that book is a "must have"! .After twenty years of
genealogy, I still use it almost daily.Their phone # is 1-843-4793815, or
you can write to them at SHINESS GIFT SHOP, P.O. Box 656, Bennettsville,SC
29512. Ask them about "HISTORY OF THE OLD CHERAWS", by Gregg. That is
another good one to have.
