Purrington Rascoe was born between 1802 and 1805 in Marlboro County and died
between 1861 and 1866 in Marlboro County. He was probably a son of Alexander
Rascoe and an unknown mother, perhaps Rachel, who was listed in the Marlboro
County census from 1800 through 1820. Rachel was listed in the 1830 census.
Sence marriage record were not required in South Carolina in those early
years I have not been able to prove who Purrington Rascoe's mother or his
wife(s) were. Based on the 1850 census of Marlboro County, Civil War soldier
records, and the estate settlement of Purrington Rascoe and just pure
guessing it appears that the children of Purrington Rascoe were as follows:

1. James Rascoe born about 1827, died about 1860. Married Ann Thomas.
2. Mary Ann Rascoe born about 1828. Married Alexander English.
3. Lucsetria Rascoe born about 1831. Married Joseph S. Thomas.
4. William L. Rascoe born about 1835. Died July 31, 1864 CSA Jackson Hospital

Richmond, Va. Married Mary Ann (Unknown)
5. Alexander H. Rascoe born about Oct. 1837. Died after 1910. Soldier in the
Civil
War. may have been married three times or more times. 1st wife was Parky
McCauel (see 1870 census). 2nd wife was Elizabeth (Unknown) see 1880
census.
She died January 16, 1884, 3rd wife was Sarah Ann Gibson. They were
married
December 6, 1885 according to Rev. J.A.W. Thomas.
6. Jane Rascoe born about 1841. Married an unknown Bristow.
7. Daniel Rascoe born about 1843. Died in Hospital in Virginia in 1861 as a
result of
the Civil War.

There may have also been another daughter named Obidance "Bidy" Rascoe who
married James Bounds.
