Entered into eternal July 5, 2001, in Greenville, S.C., Charles Brooks
Carlisle, widower of Vivian Martin Carlisle. His residence was Greenville,
S.C., formerly, North Charleston, S.C. Relatives and friends are invited to
attend his funeral services in Portside Baptist Church, Sunday, July 8, 2001,
at 2 o'clock. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may
call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, this
Saturday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.
Born February 20, 1922, in Marlboro County, S.C., Mr. Carlisle was the son of
the late John Manly and Lillie Maye Clark Carlisle. He was retired from the
Naval Weapons Station where he was employed as a Comptroller. Mr. Carlisle
was a World War II Navy veteran and served in the Normandy Invasion. He was a
recipient of the Boy Scout Silver Beaver Award, and was an Honorary Kentucky
Colonel. He was a past Governor of the South Carolina Optimist Club and was a
Board Member of Hospice of Charleston, Inc.
Survivors are a daughter, Carolyn C. Lucas of Greenville, S.C.; two
grandchildren, John T. Lucas, Jr., and Charles M. Lucas; two sisters-in-law,
Frances W. Carlisle and Margaret W. Remick.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, Inc., 3896 Leeds Ave., North
Charleston, S.C. 29405.
