October 7, 2003

BENNETTSVILLE - Services for Mr. Marion Meade Evans Sr., 58, will be held at
11 a.m. Wednesday in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at
Whitner-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Marlboro Rescue
Squad, P.O. Box 123, Bennettsville, SC 29512, to Hospice of Scotland County,
P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28352 or the American Diabetes Association,
2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 311, Columbia, SC 29204.



Mr. Evans died Monday, October 6, 2003. Born in Chesterfield County, he was
a son of Mrs. Miriam Hill Evans Ammons and the late Horace Evans. He retired
in 1999 as area director of the S.C. Employment Security Commission. He was
an active member, and presently an honorary member, of the Marlboro Rescue
Squad for 17 years, former member of the Bennettsville Rotary Club and
former president of the Marlboro Academy Booster Club.



Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cathy McInnis Evans of Bennettsville; sons,
Meade (Lisette) Evans of Florence, Marshall Evans of Bennettsville and
Clemson; daughters, Cheryl (Keith) Jones of Lewisburg, W.Va., and Baine
Evans, of Bennettsville and Clemson; his mother of Bennettsville; a sister,
Mrs. Iris Cottingham of Bennettsville; a brother, Ed Evans of Chapin; two
grandchildren; several nieces and a nephew
