Dorothy Sandifer
BENNETTSVILLE - A memorial service for Mrs. Dorothy Dunlap Sandifer, 92,
will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist which will follow
a family graveside service in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to
First United Methodist Church Remodeling Fund, P.O. Box 456, Bennettsville,
SC 29512. Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Whitner-Evans Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sandifer, widow of William Preston Sandifer, died Monday, January 26,
2004. Born May 13, 1911, she was a daughter of the late George B. and Nannie
Martin Dunlap. She attended Georgia State College for Women and taught
school in Alma, Ga., for a number of years. After her marriage, she was a
homemaker and active in First United Methodist Church. She was past
president and pianist for the Daughters of Wesley Sunday School Class and
taught Bible Study on Wednesday evenings, was chairperson for the Bread of
Life, and a member of the Bess Miller Circle. Special treasured friends were
the Reverend and Mrs. Ron Vehorn, and she actively supported his mission
work. For the past year, she had been a resident of the Methodist Manor of
the Pee Dee in Florence.
Surviving are daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Jackie) Johnson of Bennettsville,
Catherine (Mrs. Glen) Reese of Charlotte, and William P. Sandifer Jr. of
Raleigh; grandchildren, Wallace, Scott and Matt Johnson, Eric and Tracy
Sandifer; and four great-grandchildren
