Tatum-McColl-HAMER, I. Bradwell COLUMBIA - Memorial service for I. Bradwell
Hamer, 77, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Shandon United Methodist
Church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Joy Sunday School Class
and the Mary Campbell Circle.The family will receive friends at the church
following the service. Memorials may be made to Shandon United Methodist
Church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Hamer, husband of Belva Smith Hamer, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005.
Born in Charleston, he was a son of the late Reese Rankin and Fayne Parson
Hamer. A graduate of McColl High School, Mr. Hamer attended Duke University,
where he was a member of the Chapel Choir. He graduated from the University
of South Carolina, where he was a member of the U. S. C. Chorus, and the
Navy V-5 Program. While living in Charleston, Mr. Hamer was active in Bethel
United Methodist Church. In Columbia, he was a member of Shandon United
Methodist Church, where he sang in the Chancel Choir, and served on the
Official Board and several other committees. He was a member of the Joy
Sunday School Class. Mr. Hamer retired from the S. C. Tax Commission with
thirty-six years service as an auditor of multi-state corporations. He was a
collector of antiques, and curator of family history. Surviving are his
beloved wife of thirty-nine years; a daughter Belle Hamer of Greensboro,
N.C.; a son James Max Hamer and his wife Gina T. Hamer of Enoree;
grandchildren Keith Prince III and Nicole Prince, also of Enoree; a sister
Mrs. Walter E. (Rhea Fayne) Johnson of Keystone Heights, Fla.; special
nieces Lisa Smith of Aspen, Colo., and Beth Smith of New York City; special
cousin and wife Ronald and Mabel Hamer of Tatum; numerous nieces and
nephews; and a granddog Shetland. Mr. Hamer was predeceased by a brother
Reese R. Hamer, Jr., and a sister Mrs. John H. (Annetta) Marble. Visit our
