REV. EDMUND D. NORTON
_____
Rev. Edmund D. Norton died suddenly last Thursday evening of
a heart attack at his home in Rockingham. He was born in Marlboro
county on October 28, 1883 , and had lived most of his life in this section.
Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Ella Wilkes also of Marlboro
county , and two children , Joseph and Marylin , high school students.
Two adopted daughters , Mrs. Claud Britt of Fayetteville and Mrs.
Jim Goodwin of Rockingham, and three sisters , Mrs. Jim Hayes
of Rock Mount , Mrs. Robert Huggins and Mrs. Lonnie Sheppard
of Rockingham also survive. Burial was at Beaver Dam cemetery
in McColl with many beautiful floral tributes. Rev. Norton
was well known throughout the Carolinas , Georgia , and Virginia.
His many friends will miss his lovable character and his
sunny smile for everyone. My sympathy goes out
for his bereaved family.
A Friend.
