I found my wife's gg grandparents listed in the 1860 South Carolina census:
2nd Regiment, District of Pickens, Post Office Whetstone, (page 62 [124]
Family 959).
Samuel Hall, age 25, a farmer, born SC
Sarah M.(Shedd), wife, age 23, born SC
Martha, age 3, born SC
Is anyone familiar with the Whetstone area? I found a Whetstone on the map
and it appears to be just a cross road in Oconee county. Is this the same
area where the Whetstone Post Office was located in 1860?
Samuel Hall enlisted in the Civil War on the 15th of Sept 1861 and died in
Nov 1861. Would anyone know how I could find out if he was buried in
Pickens or Oconee county?
Thank you very much for any assistance.
