My thanks to all those who've answered my plea so far. I'm almost ashamed to
admit it, but I have gone through every frame of the microfilm at least twice,
if not more. I might have fell asleep though, and since I can't find my
ancestors anywhere else I keep going back to this census hoping I just missed
them before.
My thanks also to the angel who transcribed the census and just posted it on
the internet. For some reason I can't get thru to the normal web site and have
to backdoor thru the ftp server, at:
ftp://ftp.us-census.org/pub/usgenweb/census/sc/oconee/1870/
I'm in the process of downloading it, but right now the wires are a little
slow.
Bunnie, I checked your website and found BROCKS which should have been in my
line but we have different parents for them. I've checked the printed index
for 1870 for all SC, and my BROCK and WHITFIELD ancestors are not listed.
I'm looking for Elias BROCK age abt 70, Elizabeth BROCK abt 55-65, Caroline
(aka Kate, Winnie) abt 23-30, and Mary Jane (aka Janie) abt 18.
Also, William (F) Whitfield abt 46, Drusilla/Priscilla Whitfield abt 40,
Margaret abt 19, Benjamin abt 17, Mary abt 16, Lany abt 14, Lewis abt 2,
William abt 10, and Lou abt 8.
If anyone knows where any of these were in 1870 I'd be very grateful.
Allen
