I know of a fellow professional genealogist that specializes in Cherokee
research. She's located in Haywood Co NC and is very near the Eastern Band
and their extensive library of records.
If you're interested in her contact information, please contact me offline
and I'll email it to you.
Good luck in your research!

> Sorry, but I can give you no direct help. However, since your question
involves a Cherokee Indian, I may be able to steer you to an expert. Leo Z.
Adair, 748 Encino Place, Santa Paula, CA 93060. It has been about ten years
since we corresponded, and that was by snail mail, but he was, at that time,
the leading Cherokee expert in the US. He had more records than the US
Indian Bureau! He was of great help to me, very generous, supplying me with
detailed information about even some obscure Cherokee genealogy. The last
time he contacted me was just after a trip to SC to research records. Trust
me, this man is phenomenal on the subject and has amazing records. If Leo is
still alive, I'm sure he would be glad to help you if he can. Bob

in the end show that there are only 3 names not 4 because one of the names
is an alias. We know that Free WILL is a full bloodied Cherokee Indian and
several people have applied for claims to the Indian payments from the US
Gov't under his parentage. But he lost his identity in the white man's world
[and that was probably one of his goals in life] but for us descendants we
have also lost a grandaddy because of the lost identity.

these above men? The surnames that seem to be associated with these folks
are SMITH/LONG/COBB/ Roach/Williams/Watkins/Lee and afew others that are
peripheral.
