J.W. Elkin, 76 years of age, died at his home in the Ebenezer section of Oconee last Saturday, after a lingering illness, having been confined to his room with asthma for over four months. Mr. Elkin had been a resident of Oconee for about forty years, having moved here in 1868 from East Tennessee. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death. on Sunday afternoon the remains were interred at Wolf Stake Baptist cemetery in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends.

I would love to know if anyone is familiar with this person or his family.
From looking at the cemetery and census information I believe his wife was Rosa and they had 2 boys Samuel and Hugh. All appear to be buried at Wolf Stake Baptist Cemetery in Wahalla, SC.
