Subject: A Martin DNA Profile 1600-2004
Date: Sun, 24 Oct 2004 11:38:48 -0600

Our family oral history contains hints that our Martin ancestors were Scots who migrated to Northern Ireland, perhaps in the 1600s, then migrated to southeastern Pennsylvania, U.S.A. in the early to mid 1700s. They lived near other families of known Scots-Irish heritage and intermarried with them.
The first record of the family in the U.S. that has been identified thus far is John Martin born about 1774 in "Little" York County, Pennsylvania. John was reported to have been "...born...of Irish parents..." which is consistent with the family oral history of the migration from Scotland.
Despite diligent searching, I have been unable to learn the names of John Martin's immigrant parents or his siblings. My hope is that someone will find my DNA profile a close match to theirs and that we might collaborate on further family research. I will be glad to share what I've learned.
